Hi all,
What sort of Qigong sets do you practice? What are the effects of these sets? What made you first start Qigong? Do you learn in addition to anything else, eg Tai Chi?

Can you describe 9 circles neigong (and what is neigong...how is it different from qigong?)
Is it circling like silk reeling? (I read lots of books as my teacher is not very verbal) I have a silk reeling video that looks like a qigong set.
I am being brave here!! Being so new to tai chi I may sound like a fool sometimes....I appreciate your help BT.

Hi, no worries Neigong is similar to Qigong, except it is generally more focused towards developing internal power or connection in regards to martial training. The 9 circles set, we circle each of the 9 major points of the body 9 times in each direction. The 9 points are: Wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck, spine, waist, hips, knees & ankles.

I also practice standing pole, and 9 joints... but mainly use 9 circles as more of a warm up than as a qigong in its self. Also Dao Bu Fan Hui Qi Gong (Step Back Qi Gong), some 8 brocades, Channel dredging qigong, and various other bits and bobs.
For reference: Qi Gong - means Energy work Nei Gong - means inner work. So more to do with deeper aspects as deep as bone marrow work. Qigong is often what you will see from Shaolin people. i.e bringing Qi / Yang to the body surface for protection / strength.

They do kinda cross over alot though... so don;t worry about terminology and theory... all the fruit comes from correct practice.
